This is a blog for and by RC helicopter enthusiasts. We’re eager to engage with fellow RC heli hobbyists out there! A few years back, we got into RC helicopter flying and soon realized that this is no ordinary hobby. RC helicopter flying is a constant source of challenges, frustrations, and exhilaration. We were discovering and absorbing so much, we just had to go farther out from our base and spread the word about how great an experience it is to fly RC helis. The learning process itself is a character-builder. Because there is no other way to learn RC helicopter flying except slowly, from the ground up. You have to learn to be patient and persistent. Soon you’ll find that this patience and persistence are rewarded with increased skill, confidence, and the sheer joy of a smooth remote control flight. Of course, it gets pretty stressful at the start. Maybe you’ve just bought your first model heli or even built it out of the kit. There is no way you’d want it to crash the first time out (or at any time, for that matter). When you’re still learning the basics of RC helicopter flight, your most important concern is for your model to come out of it whole and undamaged. But as you gain in skills and experience, your sights rise higher. Maybe you started with a coaxial RC heli (suitable for beginners if you want to play it safe) and now want to level up to a collective pitch model. Maybe now you want to learn 3D flight. Our blog will be your companion on the journey. You’ll find posts and links to videos on different aspects of RC helicopter flying on this blog. If you’re new to remote control flying as a hobby, or you’re trying out helicopters after flying RC drones or planes for some time, we’ve got basic info to get you started and tips to help you level up. We’ll tell you about the different types of RC helis out there and share our opinions on toy-grade vs. hobby-grade and kit-build vs. RTF (ready to fly) models. If you’re higher up on the knowledge and experience ladder, you may be interested in our reviews of different models, old and new; reports on RC helicopter events and competitions; updates on issues affecting the RC heli world. You probably already know who the experts are in this field. If you don’t, you’ll get to know about them through this blog. We’ll link you to videos of expert RC heli flights too. And for all of us, from beginner to intermediate to expert fliers, we’ll post reminders on safe practices when flying RC helis. It’s fun, but it can be dangerous to us or others if we’re careless. Finally, as this is a hobby blog, you can be sure that the information and ideas we share about RC helicopters are free of commercial considerations. We blog to share the joys of RC heli flying, not to sell you anything. So please stick with us. We’ll have great flights together.
